Sports in other countries 1. In Jamaica there is a well-known sport called athletics, it is an exclusive collection of sporting events that involve competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking activities. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and race walking. Although the simplicity of the competitions, and the lack of need for expensive equipment, makes athletics one of the most commonly competed sports in the world. 2. Football also known as soccer is one of the most popular sports around the world, the name football comes from the two words "foot" and "ball". It is named football because the players of the game walk and run (on foot) while playing. The ball is often kicked with the foot, but depending on the game, it can also be hit using the knee or head 3. Basketball is a very popular sport played in the entire world, played with and orange ball that bounces. Besides basketball is now the second most popular sport in the world not many people know women's basketball even when it is also popular, although it does not receive much attention as men's basketball. 4. Windsurfing is a water sport invented in the U.K. and it is performed on a board with a sail. Although it is a well-known sport not too many people practice it, this sport is a combination of surfing and sailing but, windsurfers can travel on either flat or rough water, as long as there is wind. Windsurfing is done mostly in the summer and spring. 5. Rugby football is a sport that many people play around the globe and there are two types of rugby, called rugby union and rugby league. Although the two types of rugby moved away from each other because they did not agree about the how players were treated when they were injured while playing a game. Rugby union is played by more people than rugby league, but many people play rugby league in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Besides in most other places, the word "rugby" means rugby union.
