Description

In 1932 elections, the Nazi party won the majority of seats. Hindenberg and von Papen conspired to keep Hitler from being chancellor, but within a power vacuum, Hitler was given the job in January 1933.

The Reichstag Fire - which Hitler blamed on the communists - enabled Hitler to consolidate power in the German parliament. The Communists were banned. The Night of The Long Knives saw the execution of Hitler's potential rivals.
