Homeostatis
- Homeostatis is usually achieved by a process called negative feedback. A change in the
level of an internal factor causes effectors to restore the internal enviroment to its orginal level
- Control mechanisms. All homeostatic control mechanisms that use negative
feedback, whether physical or biological, share similar components. They all
have an output which is controlled, and a set point (norm)
- The set point is usually determined genetically and is desired or optimal
physiological stae for the output. The control mechanism also has detectors to
monitor the actual output. A comparator compares the actual output with the set
point
