     • DEVELOPS your way of thinking/ Application.
   • Diary entry
     • EXPRESSES feelings and emotions. The audience is yourself
   • Journal entry
     • PONDERS A SITUATION, to clarify thoughts.
   • Letter/E-mail
     • The letter is private, the e-mail isn´t necessarily private, but restricted to certain people or person. To SHARE EXPERIENCES.
   • Blog
     • PRESENTS PERSONAL IDEAS OR EXPERIENCIES to a wide public in a LIVELY way.

2. Professional writings

   • Proposal
     • PRESENTS A PROJECT FORMALLY, based on facts and figures.
   • Essay
     • EXPLAINS IDEAS methodically and objectively
   • Official report
     • DESCRIBES A PARTICULAR SITUATION. Explains how and why the situation exists. The audience are the ones involved in the situation.
   • Set of instructions
     • GIVES information in a clear and methodically way. It tells people what to do.

3. Mass media writings

   • Article
     • PRESENTS a define subject with clear and objective information. Usually to a specific public.
   • News report
     • INFORMS about one event, not necessarily concerned with background.
   • Opinion column
     • SHARES your opinion on one particular issue. It´s explained convincingly, even if it's subjective.
   • Brochure, pamphlet, leaflet
     • PRESENTS INFORMATION widely and clearly. It's given to anybody, although targeted to a specific group (youth, adults, etc.)
   • Review
     • ANALYZES, COMMENTS AND JUDGES a work or event. Addressed to general public.
   • Speech
     • PRESENTS IDEAS in a public occasion. Clear context and audience. It must inspire, motivate, awake interest.
   • Letter to editor
     • PRESENTS YOUR OPINION or to a published article. Usually addressed to someone particularly.
   • Interview
     • PRESENTS A DETAILED AND INTERESTING REPORT of talking with someone, including his/her opinions, career, etc. Clearly explained.
