hurricanes didnt use to have names forecanting hurricanes was oniy deglenining to emerge in the late 1490 only the most severe ones nives names it was usually the place they did the mues damage ( like the galveston hurricane of 1900)
during world war ud meteorologists working in the pacific ocean began naming tropical cyclones becauses they were often tracking many storms at the same time
the first us unoffically named hurricane was george which hit in 1947 the next one given a name was named after the first lady of the usa different convention
