    1. It is the brain of the computer
      1. Stands for central processing unit
        1. Runs the programs
          1. The ALU stands for the arithmetic logic unit- it does maths
            1. On the microchip there is lots of tiny transistors called gates that compare signals and return outputs
            2. RAM
              1. Stands for random access memory
                1. Temporarily stores files needed to run a program
                  1. Is volatile
                  2. ROM
                    1. Stands for read only memory
                      1. Usually is used for holding file type reader programs and programs that make the whole computer desktop
                      2. Motherboard
                        1. Links all the PC parts together
                          1. Relays signals from each device
                            1. Has slots
