          2. RAM- Internal Memory
            1. Definition- Volatile this means when the computer is turned off the data is lost. Holds data that is currently being used. e.g. word document. stores data that can be changed. RAM stands for Random Access Memory.
              1. Differences between RAM and ROM: RAM is random access memory and ROM is read only memory. RAM is volatile this means it loses contents when switched off it stores data temporarily, ROM is non volatile. data cannot be changed on ROM/ data can be changed in RAM.
              2. ROM- Internal Memory
                1. Definition- Stands for Read Only Memory. Non Volatile data is not lost when computer is switched off. ROM can only be read never can you change it or delete it. Some instuctions need to be stored, that need to be impossible to change, e.g BIOS or the programme to run a computer.
                  1. Differences between RAM and ROM: Data cannot be written to ROM/ data is fixed at manufacture. RAM holds the data the user is currently working on. Rom holds the BIOS/ games programms.
