1. NRTIs
  Anmerkungen:
  - abacavir (ABC) & lamivudine (3TC) are both NRTIs. The former is also used for HBV tx.
2. INSTI
  Anmerkungen:
  - dolutegravir (DTG) is the integrase inhibitor 
3. Tablets ONLY
  1. 600 mg abacavir
  2. 50 mg dolutegravir
  3. 300 mg lamivudine
Combination Anti-Retroviral
1. HIV Treatment
2. helps prevent resistance
  Anmerkungen:
  - HIV is a fast adapting virus. Using multiple drugs with different MOAs helps prevent resistance from developing to a single agent.
Indications
1. HIV-1 infection
  Anmerkungen:
  - 1T QD
2. adult & pediatrics > 40 kg
  Anmerkungen:
  - if used in combination with UGT1A or CYP-3A inducers, an additional 50 mg of dolutegravir should be taken 12 hours after Triumeq
Monitoring
1. LFT
  Anmerkungen:
  - many HIV drugs can adversely affect the liver
2. CD4+
  Anmerkungen:
  - Monitoring the progress of the disease
Contraindications
1. concommitant dofetilide
2. Severe Hepatic Impairment
3. HLA-B*5701
4. 1st trimester of pregnancy
5. St, John's Wort
ADEs
1. hypersensitivity
  Anmerkungen:
  - severe rash, fever, malaise, fatigue, muscle/joint aches, blisters, conjunctivitis, facial edema, hepatitis, angioedema 
2. lactic acidosis
3. liver toxicity
4. immune reconstitution syndrome
5. Most Common
  1. sleep disturbances
  2. tiredness
  3. headache
Patient Consultation
1. Calcium, Zinc, or Iron containing products
  Anmerkungen:
  - take 2 hours before or 6 hours after  -includes antacids
2. do NOT double dose
  Anmerkungen:
  - if dose is missed, take ASAP unless too close to next dose
