Zusammenfassung der Ressource
Properties of waves Jose Pablo Alvarez
- A wave is a disturbance
involving the transfer of
energy from place to
place.
- Amplitude
- The amplitude is the
maximum distance
the medium vibrates
from the rest position.
Amplitude describes
how far the medium in
a wave moves.
- Wavelength
- A wave travels certain
distance before it starts to
repeat. The distance between
two corresponding parts of a
wave is called the wavelength.
The Wavelength describes the
wave’s length
- Frequency
- The frequency is the number of
waves that pass a given point in
a certain amount of time.
Frequency is measured in units
called hertz (Hz), and is defined
as the number of waves per
second.
- Speed
- The speed of a wave is how far the
wave travels in a given amount of
time. Different waves travel at
different speeds. You can determinate
the speed of a wave by dividing the
distance it travels by the time it takes
to travel the distance.
