- These include looking at policy documents, accident and enforcement history, qualifications and experience
- Client must ensure the contractor carrys out risk assessments and method statements and work safely to agreed methods
- Construction (design and management) Regs 2007 (CDM)
- Impose a framework for management of construction projects
- For notifiable projects the CDM identifies 5 duty holders
- Notifiable projects are planned over 30 days and more than 500 person days
- Regs require preparation of construction phase plan and H & S file for finished structure
