Stories Una Carta a Dios Main character is Lencho, who lives in the only house in the Valley. His land needs water so he can grow food to feed his family. It starts to rain, then it begins to hail. The hail destroys all the corn and beans that Lencho was going to feed his family with. The family thinks they are going to die. Lencho writes a letter to god in the middle of the night, describing what happened and asking for 100 pesos to buy and plant seeds. The post office employees laugh at Lencho's letter, but the boss thinks it is admirable how much hope and faith in god that Lencho has, and decides to raise money to send to Lencho. They can only raise 60 pesos, but send it anyways. Lencho counts the money, and sends it back, along with a note to god saying the people at the post office are thieves. El Gato de Sevres A collector is walking around, and sees in the store window of a rundown building a cat drinking milk out of a plate. He thinks it is an authentic plate by Sevres. He goes into the store, and pretends he has no interest in the plate. Instead, he says he admires the cat and wants to buy the cat. At first the owner refuses, but then says he will sell it to him for 50 pesos. The collector says he will only pay 30. They agree on 40. He buys the cat and then says he should probably get the bowl as well, so the cat can drink out of what it is used to. The owner of the shop says sure, for 10 million pesos. It is reviled that the owner knows the plate's value, and uses it to sell street cats. Signos De Puntuacion
