an atom is the smallest particle of an element

the three smaller subatomic particles that make up an atom are electrons, protons, and neutrons.

protons are located in the nucleus along with neutrons. electrons are located outside the nucleus.

protons have a positive charge. neutrons have no charge. electrons have a negative charge.

protons and electrons are the most dense subatomic particles, neutrons are the lightest

positive is the overall charge of an atom

the relationship of numbers between is that they are the same

proton is the subatomic particle that is related to the atomic number of an element

the number of protons and electrons are equal

a valence electron is an electron that is in the highest occupied energy level of an atom

to complete the first shell with electrons you need 2

to complete the second shell, you can have up to 8
