"The goal of socialism is communism."

- Vladimir Lenin

Communism is an economic system founded on principles of public ownership and rationally planned economy. The most obvious contrast with Communism is capitalism (an economic system based on private ownership and forces of supply and demand).

Karl Marx predicted that the collapse of capitalism would come about due to the internal contradictions of bourgeoisie and proletariat interests. A revolution of the oppressed proletariat would lead to to the end of class conflict and socialism would be the victor.
