OCR Gateway GCSE P3 Revision Quiz

Beschreibung

This is a test I made to help with an end of unit test I'm going to take soon (it's not the real GCSE). It's probably best to take this after you've revised, to test how much you know, or you could use it to jog your memory. Please like! (Or whatever you can do - positively - on this website). Good luck on any Physics test you have - P3 is all about equations, so practise practise practise!!!

How can you measure the speed of an object?
Antworten
  • metres per second (m/s)
  • kilometres per hour (kph)
  • miles per hour (mph)
  • yards per minute (ypm)

Frage 2

Frage
The faster the speed of an object:
Antworten
  • the greater the distance it travels
  • the lighter the object is
  • the shorter the time it takes to travel a particular distance
  • the quicker the acceleration of the object
  • the larger the surface area of the object, therefore creating more drag

Frage 3

Frage
speed = .... ?
Antworten
  • distance * time
  • ((u+v)/2) * t
  • distance / time
  • speed / distance

Frage 4

Frage
Why is average distance used?
Antworten
  • to make the answer more reliable
  • the speed may change over a given distance, so the average distance over the whole journey is used
  • the speed may change direction, so it is better to use an average DISTANCE instead of speed

Frage 5

Frage
How do speed cameras work?
Antworten
  • They generally take 3 pictures of several vehicles a certain time apart
  • they generally take 2 pictures of 1 vehicle a certain time apart

Frage 6

Frage
What is the formula for calculating the speed of a car using speed cameras?
Antworten
  • speed of car = distance travelled between pictures/ time taken between 1st and 2nd picture
  • speed of vehicle = distance travelled/ time taken between 2nd and 1st picture

Frage 7

Frage
(Distance-time graphs) The steeper the gradient....
Antworten
  • the greater the distance travelled within a short amount of time
  • the greater the speed
  • the quicker the accelertion

Frage 8

Frage
(distance - time graphs) a straight diagonal line shows...
Antworten
  • a steady speed
  • acceleration

Frage 9

Frage
(distance-time graphs) a straight horizontal line (---------) shows.....
Antworten
  • No movement (stationary)
  • The object is going backwards
  • The object is travelling in a straight line

Frage 10

Frage
(distance-time graphs) a steeper diagonal line means....
Antworten
  • an increase in speed (object is going faster than it was before)
  • object is moving at a steady speed
  • object is accelerating
  • car has gone past the speed limit

Frage 11

Frage
(distance-time graphs) a diagonal line going downwards means....
Antworten
  • The object is decellerating
  • Object is moving slower
  • object is going backwards

Frage 12

Frage
How do you work out the speed of an object on a distance-time graph?
Antworten
  • divide the area of the time and divide it by the length of the distance
  • take any 2 points on the graph and read off the distance travelled for that part of the journey and the time taken to get there

Frage 13

Frage
the acceleration / deceleration of an object is..... ?
Antworten
  • the change in speed per second
  • how fast the object is moving

Frage 14

Frage
how do you measure acceleration and deceleration?
Antworten
  • acceleration = measured in: m/s * m/s (a.k.a. metres per second squared)
  • deceleration = measured in: -m/s * -m/s (a.k.a. - metres per second squared)
  • m/s, kph or mph

Frage 15

Frage
How do you work out the acceleration of a moving object?
Antworten
  • change in speed/ time taken for change in speed
  • acceleration = (final velocity - initial velocity) / time
  • s = ((u + v) /2) * t

Frage 16

Frage
Example question: a car accelerates at 1.5 m/s2 for 12 seconds. Calculate the change in speed of the car
Antworten
  • 18 m/s
  • 8 m/s
  • 8 m/s2

Frage 17

Frage
(speed-time graphs) a horizontal line means...
Antworten
  • No acceleration (0 m/s2)
  • Constant acceleration

Frage 18

Frage
(speed-time graphs) a positive diagonal line shows....
Antworten
  • acceleration
  • an increase in speed

Frage 19

Frage
(speed-time graphs) a negative diagonal line shows..
Antworten
  • deceleration
  • going backwards

Frage 20

Frage
(speed-time graphs) the area underneath the speed-time can be used to measure....
Antworten
  • distance travelled
  • total time taken

Frage 21

Frage
How would you calculate the total distance travelled on a speed-time graph?
Antworten
  • Cut the graph into triangles and rectangles, then find the area for each shape and add them all up
  • multiply the y-axis by the x-axis

Frage 22

Frage
What is Force measured in?
Antworten
