How do different Jewish groups welcome the birth of a child 1. All Jewish male children have a Brit Milah. 2. In orthodox and Ultra Orthodox there is no ceremony for a female child, although the name is given in the synagogue 3. In reform communities a Brit Bat is celebrated where the female child is welcomed. The family make their own celebration and share the name of the child

What happens at a BAT MITZVAH? 1. The same as the BAR MITZVAH except the girl is 12 2. They will read from the Torah also 3. It only occurs in Reform communities as Orthodox have a separate ceremony. 4. They can also be counted as part of Minyan ( as 'men' means 'people')
WHAT is a BAT CHAYIL? 1. Coming of age ceremony for girls in Orthodox or Ultra-Orthodox communities 2. The girl gives a talk about her faith (but does not read the Torah and this does not happen on Shabbat) 3. They learn about how to keep a good 'Jewish home'/ 4. They are not counted as part of the Minyan

What happens at a Jewish Wedding Ceremony? 1. Shabbat before wedding husband announces his intention to marry 2. Led by a rabbi and held under a chuppah (canopy) 3. Bride is brought to groom by her mother 4. Bride circles groom 7 times 5. The Bride receives a ring with the words 'May you be consecrated to me according to the rituals of Moses' 6. The contract is read out and the groom breaks a glass under his heal
