Digital Distribution- big computer files, via the web, hard drives and optical disks or satelite (no reels)
If the movie has been distributed digitaly, the cinemas are able to project the movie using a digital projector rather than a conventional film projector.
Standard distribution which uses reels can be good for viewing experience but can become scratched and dirty each time the movie is played.
To turn the 2D film into 3D they need to make sure that the editing was perfect to get the right affect.
The cost of coverting 2D films can be from $50,000 to $100,000
