Marlena McQueen, or simply Nana, as she's better known, is a somewhat legendary figure in the McQueen household. Often referenced, rarely seen, never forgotten, you know trouble is not far behind when she does descend upon her daughter, Myra's, home. McQueen to the core, her apples certainly didn't fall far from the tree. Visits from Nana always come with an extra dollop of mischief.

Feisty, single-minded, and forever with a scam up her sleeve, this glam nan isn't one for doilies and boiled sweets. Her name alone is enough to serve as a threat from Myra to her children, "behave or I'll pack you off to Nana's!".

We first met Nana way back in July 2007, when she was caught flirting with Russ Owen, then boyfriend to her granddaughter, Mercedes. Outrageous behaviour and Nana McQueen have continued to go hand-in-hand ever since... Like the time she was caught red-handed stealing money from Myra, landing herself a one-way ticket out of the McQueens'.

Nana almost met her maker in 2008 at the hands of her evil grandson Niall, when he attacked her in the Hollyoaks alley (read: doomed alley of death) in a bid to get revenge on the family that had abandoned him.

Despite Nana's prickly exterior, there's a big loving heart hiding behind the many gold chains and lashings of lycra. Especially when it comes to one cherished grandchild: Carmel.

In a bid to boost Carm's confidence (following the tragic facial tanner explosion that left permanent scarring to Carmel's face) Nana McQueen employed some rather underhand methods, namely paying Barney to date Carmel. The scheme which ultimately ended in disaster when Carmel found out.

Who knows how long she'll stick around for? All we know is that there's never a dull moment when Nana's about!
