Setting
Our filming is going to start outside in a driveway of a house to show the robbers breaking in. It will be filmed in the evening when its dusky in order to add a tense and dramatic element to our opening scene.
We wanted the opening scene to portray a dark and gloomy setting similar to Sherlock Holmes which we researched in our textual analysis, as it creates a suspenseful atmosphere and fits well within our crime drama setting.
We are then going to move the filming from the driveway into a living room.
There are everyday objects in the background which makes the setting feel more natural and also makes the plot line more believable.
There are various modern objects present in the background such as a laptop and a TV, making it obvious which era our opening scene is set in. This is beneficial as it helps the audience understand aspects of the plot without having to explain specific and time consuming details.
Our third and final setting is going to be in a kitchen.
Once again, as there’s everyday objects and various food products on display in the kitchen it shows that the house is lived in, giving the audience a better understanding of the film as they can now start to make links with the dead woman realising that she is likely to be the resident of the house.
