Restless Earth

Geosphere: land

1st layer- crust/ lithosphere, 2nd layer- upper mantle/ asthenosphere, 3rd- lower mantle, 4th- outer core, 5th- inner core.

Lithosphere:

-Continental crust, made of granite, 2.7cm3 density, solid, Air temp-900 C.

-Oceanic crust, made of basalt, 3.3 cm3 density, solid air temp-900 C.

The mantle

-Asthenosphere, made of peridotite 3.4-4.4cm3 density, partially molten (allows tectonic movement, 900-1600 C.

-Lower mantle, made of peridotite, 4.4-5.6 cm3 density, solid, 1600-4000 C.

Core

-Outer core, made of Iron and Nickel, 5.6-12.2 cm3 density, liquid, 4000-5000 C.

-Inner core, made of iron and Nickel, 12.2-15 cm3 density, solid, 5000-6000 C.
