15th century the first British and French explorers began arriving at the Atlantic coast of North America
(1756-1763) Seven Years War --> French losts its North American colonies to Britain including the francophone province Quebec
1776 Canadian provinces remained loyal --> British loyalists went to Canada (Declaration of Independence)
1.Juli 1867 Canada became an independent state (Canada Day)
Canadian Multiculturalism Act of 1988 underlines the importance of multiculturalism
