What are fossils?
Fossils are actual remains of a living organisms
Fossils are the perserved remains of a once-living organism
Fossils are hominids that are dead.
They are bones.
Fossils don't help us to find clues about the past
What are the types of fossils
Carbon Films
Neutral Fossils
Mold and Casts
Rock Fossils
Petrified fossils
Trace fossils
New Remains
Sediment Fossils
Perserved Remains
All of the above
What are the steps to form a fossil?
1. Sediment 2. Neutral 3. Rock 4. Air
1. Erosion 2. Layers 3. Sediment 4. Neutral
1. Sediment 2. Layers 3. Movement 4. Erosion
1. Movement 2. Dany Garcia 3. Hola 4. Bye
The first step to form a fossil is sediment, what happens in that step?
Movement on tectonic plates, or giant rock slabs that make up earth’s surface.
More sediment layers accumulate above the animal's remains and minerals, such as silica slowly replace the calcium phosphate in the bones.
An animal is buried by sediment. Such as volcanic ash or silt, shortly after it dies. Its bones are protected from rotting by the layer of sediment.
Erosion from rain, rivers and wind wears away the remaining rock layers
The second step to form a fossil is layers, what happens in that step?
The third step to form a fossil is movement, what happens in that step?
The fourth step to form a fossil is erosion, what happens in that step?
What is mold?
*The mold is formed when the hardest parts in the organism are buried in sediment, sand, silt, or clay.
*When the hard parts dissolve it leaves a hole in the mold.
*The mold is a color pink jelly fish.
What is cast?
*The cast forms as result of a mold.
*The minerals and sediment that are left behind in the mold makes a cast.
*The cast is the second part of the living thing.
*It is an ammonite.
What is petrification?
*The process makes the minerals replace the organism.
*Fossils that return into stones
*It forms as result of a cast.
*The majority of scientists find this in Africa.
What is Traces (footprints)?
*All living things contain carbon so that is why they stay like that.
*Over time the footprint gets buried in the layers of sediment. Then the sediment becomes rock.
*They show the activities that the organism did.
*Fossils that turn into stone
What are Actual Remains?
*Some organisms get preserved in or close to their original states.
*They get preserved thanks to the earth they live on.
*The organisms appear in the other side of the world to where they lived on.
*If the organism was a mammal it preserved faster.

What are Carbon Films?
*All living things contain carbon.
*When living things die they are buried in sediment and all the things that an organism, break down.
*They die and turn to carbon
*When living things die they are buried in amber, tar and ice.
What are Coprolites?
*An animal waste, buried 5m underneath
*It is also known as fossilized dung.
*This is like the animal waste that then converts in stone.
*It is color yellow.
What kind of information does the Fossil Record Evidence gives us?
*Information about the past life.
*Information of what they ate or ate ten, where and how they lived.
*Information of the structure of organisms.
*Information about who where their friends and enemies where.
What is Anatomical Evidence?
*The study of homologous structures.
*The study of vestigial organs.
*The study of neural structures in living things.
*The study of neutral organs.
Vestigial Organs are the structures in the body that are useless. For example: appendix, third and fourth molars, post auricular muscle and frequent absence of second bicuspid.
What is Embryological Evidence?
*Embyological evidence is the study of the development of an organism and the study of inherited traits.
*Embyological evidence is the study of mammals
*Embyological evidence is the study of the organisms with mental issues.
*Embyological evidence is the study of new things that start developing.
What is Chemical Evidence?
*It is the DNA that is similar in different species.
*It is the DNA that is opposite in different species.

What is the definition of paleontology?
The science that deals with the fossils of animals and plants that lived very long ago especially in the time of dinosaurs.
The science that deals with the fossils of animals and plants that are developing.
