The drink package is one of the most popular add-ons for guests because it offers unlimited beverages, convenience, and peace of mind while at sea.

Understanding the Royal Caribbean Drink Packages

Royal Caribbean offers multiple drink packages designed to fit different guest preferences. Whether you enjoy cocktails by the pool, prefer soda and specialty coffees, or want to keep it simple with bottled water, there’s a package for you. The main types include:

Deluxe Beverage Package (Alcoholic Drinks Included):
- Covers beer, wine by the glass, cocktails, and spirits.
- Includes non-alcoholic beverages like soda, coffee, tea, and bottled water.
- Often the best value for adults who plan to enjoy multiple drinks daily.
Refreshment Package (Non-Alcoholic):
- Covers soda, bottled water, specialty coffees, teas, and mocktails.
- Ideal for adults and teens who don’t drink alcohol but want variety.
Classic Soda Package:
- Unlimited fountain sodas and refills.
- The most budget-friendly option, often popular with kids.

How Much Is the Royal Caribbean Drink Package?

Prices for drink packages vary depending on the ship, itinerary, and time of booking. Here’s a breakdown of the typical price ranges per person, per day (before gratuities):

Deluxe Beverage Package: $56–$105 per day
Refreshment Package: $29–$38 per day
Classic Soda Package: $12.99–$15 per day

Keep in mind that Royal Caribbean automatically adds an 18–20% gratuity charge to the package price. For example, if you purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package at $80 per day, the total with gratuity will be closer to $95.

Why Prices Vary

Unlike some cruise lines with fixed pricing, Royal Caribbean uses a dynamic pricing model. This means package costs can change depending on:

Ship and Itinerary: Longer cruises or premium destinations sometimes have higher rates.
Season and Demand: Holiday sailings often see higher pricing.
Booking Timing: Buying in advance, especially during a sale, can save you significant money compared to purchasing onboard.

To get the lowest rate, check the Cruise Planner regularly after booking your trip.

Is the Drink Package Worth It?

Whether the package is worth it depends on your personal drinking habits. Let’s look at some examples:

Cocktails and Spirits: Around $12–$14 each
Beer: Around $8 each
Wine by the Glass: $10–$14 each
Specialty Coffee: $4–$6 each
Bottled Water: $3 each
Soda: $3.50 each

If you normally drink several beverages per day, the package can easily pay for itself. For instance, having four cocktails, a coffee, and a few bottled waters could cost over $70 in a single day without a package. With the Deluxe Beverage Package, all of those are covered at a flat daily rate.

Benefits of Buying a Drink Package

Convenience: No need to worry about tallying up drink costs.
Variety: Try different cocktails, wines, and beverages without hesitation.
Budget-Friendly: Provides financial predictability for your cruise.
Hydration: Includes bottled water, which is especially important for shore excursions and hot destinations.
Flexibility: Packages work at nearly every onboard venue and even at Royal Caribbean’s private destinations like Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Things to Keep in Mind

Age Restrictions: Guests must be 21+ (18+ on certain international itineraries) to purchase alcoholic packages.
One Package Rule: If one adult in a cabin buys the Deluxe Beverage Package, all adults in that cabin must purchase it too. This is to prevent sharing.
Non-Refundable: Packages are non-refundable once your cruise begins, so be sure before purchasing.
Sales Happen Often: Royal Caribbean frequently discounts packages before sailing. Buy early, then re-check the Cruise Planner—if the price drops, you can cancel and repurchase at the lower rate.

Tips for Getting the Best Value

Buy in Advance: Packages are usually more expensive onboard.
Watch for Promotions: Royal Caribbean often runs “30% Off Beverage Packages” sales.
Know Your Habits: If you don’t drink much alcohol, consider the Refreshment Package instead.
Mix & Match: One guest can buy the Deluxe Package while others in the cabin stick to non-alcoholic options.
Use It Often: To maximize value, start your mornings with specialty coffee, hydrate with bottled water, and enjoy cocktails throughout the day.

Final Thoughts

So, how much is the Royal Caribbean drink package? On average, you can expect to pay between $56 and $105 per day for the Deluxe Beverage Package, $29–$38 for the Refreshment Package, and around $13–$15 for the Soda Package. Prices vary, so it’s best to book early and watch for promotions.

If you’re someone who enjoys multiple drinks per day—whether cocktails, wine, or specialty coffees—the package is usually worth it. Beyond cost savings, it also adds convenience and lets you enjoy your vacation without worrying about the bill at the end.
