Art as Communication and Education

1. Is art a language? Do we all understand that language?

–Yes as it takes intention and knowledge to use. No and we all have different ideas about it.

2. What are the similarities between music and language?

– Music uses language to enhance the communication while strengthen it with melody.

3. Can music and language express the same things?

-To some extent but it is much harder for language to convey a powerful message.

4. Listen to the Poem by Wilfred Owen. What knowledge do we gain from this poem that would be lacking in a factual account of the First World War?

– A point of view of what actually happened through the recorded events of a solider. Emotions, descriptions and feelings taken into account.

5. How can fictional literature give us valued knowledge?

- It provides pictures of the world that might be beneficial or preferred to be avoided.

6. Why do people watch films that scare them or make them cry?

-To evoke an emotion and to escape from reality.

7. Do you think violent films have an effect on people?

– They are memorable and they might make an impact when it comes to opinions of violence.

8. Is there ever a case for censorship?

– To young minds but after a specific age it is unnecessary unless you are sensitive.
