Socioeconomic status Measurement of an individuals statis in society based on factors such as living standards, deprivation, occupation, ethnicity, income and education. It highly influences health issues and access to treatment.
Social Deprivation Individual disconnect from the resources and environment of a community
Relative poverty standard of poverty determined by the society in which an individual lives in
Absolute Poverty access to resources which are essential to life and survival are unobtainable by an individual or household
Social Determinants of Health the conditions in which people are born, grown, work, age etc. These are influenced by the distribution of money, power, and resources.
Social Gradient of Health the idea which deprivation is inversely proportional to an individuals health status. i.e increased deprivation= decreased health.vthis links to the ideas of absolte and relative poverty.
Communicable Disease A disease which can be transmitted from person to person
Non-communicable Disease disease which cannot be transmitted from person to person
