How is breathing for life different than breathing for speech? LIFE- equal inhalation/exhalation SPEECH- speak on exhalation so it is longer than inhalation and uses muscle control
What is phonation? What components are involved? phonation is the sound that is created by vibration of the vocal folds (aka our voice!) - pharynx, larynx, vocal folds
What is articulation? Manipulation of airflow to create highly precise speech sounds
What are the four building blocks of normal speech? Breath stream, voice, articulation, fluency
