Verb tense To sing past: I sang a song on Wednesday Present: I am singing a song now Future: I will sing song tomorrow
Capital letters Beginning of a sentence and use of I, names, places, rivers, Mountains, Lakes etc.
Full stop Use at a end of a sentence also when you use etc. Mt.
Question marks We use question marks when we are asking a question.
Exclamation marks Adding expressions to sentences
Comma A comma is used in a middle of a sentence, naming things it for little.
Apostrophe They are used for shortening the word
Conjunctions e.g and,so, but, because, although, yet, or, which, where, unless
Prepositions Describes position of something, the time when something happened and the way in which something is done.
Articles & Indefinite Articles Article: the Indefinite articles: a,an
Inverted commas Quoting something from novel,short story or poetry. To indicate these words are not mine that i have written. Direct speech 2 marks indirect speech 1 marl
Simples sentence It is a simples sentence without comma and complicated things e.g Ben ran home
Compound sentence A compound sentence has 2 or more simples sentences joined to gather by a conjunction.
Complex sentences A complex sentence has one main clause and one or more subordinate clauses e.g The cat was sick because she chewed a fluffy toy
Compound-complex sentence Is two simples sentences with a conjunction and a subordinate clause. e.g. I brought along the chicken dish and Ann brought along the fish even though I had asked her not to earlier in the day.
Minor sentence Is an incomplete sentence that makes sense to use. We understand the meaning. e.g Stop , Seriously etc.
Imperative When somebody tells you to do something like a command e.g Get the ball!, Stand!, Sit down!
