1. Process

   • is an instance of a computer program that is being executed. It contains the program code and its current activity
     • micro-processor is an integrated that contains all or most of the individual elements of a CPU
     • operating systems are a low-level software that supports a computer's basic functions

2. Output

   • is any device used to send data from a computer to another device or user
     • The monitor is the piece of computer hardware that displays the video and graphics information generated by the computer through the video card
     • printers
       • Laser printers are quite expensive to buy and run but produce a high quality output and are quiet and fast
       • Ink-jet printers offer black and white or colour printing with reduced levels of quality and speed. Colour ink jet printers are cheaper to buy than colour laser printers.
       • Dot matrix printers are comparatively noisy and low quality but are cheap to run and are used when carbon copies or duplicates need to be made, such as for wage slips.
     • speakers produce an audio output that can be heard by the listener

3. Input

   • it provides data and controls signals to the computer or machine
     • a mouse is used to perform actions of a cursor on a monitor
     • keyboard is used to display certain numbers, symbols and letters on a screen
     • scanner is a device that scans images or documents which can then be imported into a computer
