Resumen del Recurso
Japan and the US
US wanted a trading relation with Japan
After failing in two occasions, the US sent troops in 1853 to finally have an answer from Japan
Japan had political differences over the idea of opening Japan´s ports
Japan´s seclusion policy ended after more than 200 years in 1854 and US became the favoured-nation with the Treaty of Kanagawa
This led to Japan´s growth as an regional and international power
This Treaty was followed up by the Treaty of Amity and Commerce with the US, but was opposed by nationalists who still wanted seclusion
