How did you use media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages
Construction
Poster
Photoshop
I have used Photoshop to create our poster, being an A2 Photography student I am
familiar with the software and this was helpful when generating a final idea for our
poster as I knew the types of techniques which could be used. I have used the
opacity, layering, magic wand, saturation, polygonal and many other tools in order to
create the poster.
Our poster
Internet/google
I have used the internet to research the way which alternative rock music bands portray their image
within magazines and posters. I have done this to grasp the typical conventions within a rock poster. I
found that the posters had serious photographs of the band and that image was conveyed throughout.
The image which is mainly created was a kind of sinister image, the bands sex appeal came from the
maturity within the poster.
Coldplay Poster
As you can see in the image,
we have taken the idea of
opacity, instruments and
various text into consideration
when creating our poster so
that our band image became
conventional fpr typical
alternative rock bands.
Digipack
Photoshop
I have used the technology in Photoshop in order to create the
digipack, this is because it gives a wide variety of different tools
which allowed me to construct a product which is complex and
professional. I have made the paper square so that I could make 6
different tiles to fit within the digipack. From research I discovered
that the inside was usually individual portraits and the back was
writing or pattered. I have tried to use my skills to make these ideas
as complex and artistic as possible by using the technologies provided
on Photoshop
Microsoft word
I have used Microsoft word in order to create a
template for my digipack. This was important
as it gave me a guideline to work with to know
where to place the image in order for the front
and back covers to sit in the correct place.
Main product
Adobe Premiere Pro
I have used Adobe Premiere Pro in order to edit together my footage, I have used this
particular media because it allows us to smoothly cut, place, layer and duplicate footage. As I
used this at AS I was already familiar with how to use it and therefore this made the editing
process a lot easier and quicker. However, some of our footage was too saturated for the mood
we wanted to create, therefore we used another type of media to manipulate the footage
before editing the product together.
Youtube
However, there were some things which I wanted to
use this year which I didn't use last year. Overlaying
footage was one thing which I found would be a lot
easier to do if done on Premire Pro. Therefore I used
youtube to discover how to do this. Whilst watching
tutorials on youtube I discovered the effects control
section of the footage, within this I saw the 'opacity'
button. From using Photoshop I knew what the
button was used for and what it altered, theroefre I
played around with this and discovered how to
overlay an image so that I could control how much of
each image I wanted to be seen.
Adobe After Effects
I have used Adobe After Affects quite a lot this year to
create my final product. I barely used it at AS and therefore
it was very new to me.
Lynda.com
Youtube
Therefore I used Lynda.com and Youtube to find tutorials on how to create particular
effects. Some of the things I learnt were how to create a vignette effect, how to crop the
image and also how to overlay footage, I found Youtube a better way to find tutorials as
they tended to be shorter and more simple to follow.

Evaluation stages
Question 1
Prezi
I have used Prezi for my first evaluation
question so I can add images and youtube videos
to explain my points. I also think it is a clear way
to present my ideas and answers as it guides you
through the presentation in an interesting way.
Question 2
Emaze
I have used Emaze in this question as it is another way to present my answers, but uses a
different format to those such as powerpoint and Powtoon etc.. Emaze allows more of a 3
dimensional experience similar to prezi, which I find a lot more interesting and engaging than
some webtools like slideshare for example.
Question 3
Youtube
I have used youtube to import my rendered video,
this is because Youtube is a popular site, allows
feedback, comments and is easy for anyone,
especially people of our target audience (25-30 year
olds) who may not be as up to date as the younger
generation, to use
Adobe Premiere pro
We have used Premiere pro to edit together a short video for question 3, this
was a different approach and we thought it would be more engaging to watch a
video than to be reading a lot of text. Therefore we used a software we were
familiar with such as premiere pro to be able to quickly construct an
interesting but short video to answer question 3.
Question 4
Examtime
I have used exam time for this question, this is because there were
a lot of different subtitles I needed to add, therefore I thought this
was a good option to choose as I can label by colour and split up my
answers in a clear, organized manner, whilst also being able to add
images.
