  1. Behavior is influenced by the individual, the job, the work group, the organization, and the culture.
    1. Personality is an individuals relatively stable characteristic patters of thought, emotion and behavior and the psychological mechanisms that support and drive those patterns
    2. Trait Models "The Big Five" - personality is composed of a relatively stable set of traits or dimensions
      1. Openness to Experience - The extent to which people seek new experiences and their awareness of their thoughts
        1. Conscientiousness - these people are dependable and conform to social norms
          1. Extroversion - outgoing and assertive
            1. Agreeableness - likeable, cooperative and considerate
              1. Neuroticism - emotional stability
              2. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
                1. Extroversion/Introversion(E/I) - how the individual acts socially
                  1. Sensing/Intuiting (S/N) how people prefer to collect information
                    1. Thinking/Feeling (T/F) how people evaluate information
                      1. Judging/Perceiving (J/P) - how people like to make decisions
                      2. Other personality traits: self-esteem, machiavellianism (ends justify the means), locus of control
