            1. A predator is an animal that eats other animals, and the prey is the animal that gets eaten by the predator. In the food chain above: the frog is a predator and the grasshopper is its prey. the hawk is a predator and the frog is its prey.
            2. Next come organisms that eat the autotrophs; these organisms are called herbivores or primary consumers -- an example is a rabbit that eats grass. The next link in the chain is animals that eat herbivores - these are called secondary consumers -- an example is a snake that eat rabbits.
