Anticyclones are the opposite of depressions
1. They are areas of high atmospheric pressure
In an anticyclone air sinks it does not rise, as it sinks it warms and carries more water so that clouds an drain does not form
1. The absence of fronts mean that winds can be very light. Consequently, high pressure areas are often associated with settled, dry, bright conditions
In the Summer, anticyclones bring hot, dry weather. In winter, clear skies may bring cold conditions, anticyclones may also bring fog and mist. This is because the cold forces moisture in the air to condense at low altitudes
When the air sinks as no clouds are formed there is no "cover" for the cold that blankets the country at night making us FREEZING
