Need some ice breakers?

Ask "What if questions."

What if my best friend was a spy? What if I was originally an orphan? What if people suddenly had open access to each other's thoughts? What if you had to follow every law in existence to keep risk from being wanted dead or alive? What if the universe suddenly gave everyone powers? What if there was a crossover between show/movie X and show/movie Y?

Ask "I wonder..."

To write a semi-cannon or semi-realistic story ask I wonder... Questions. I wonder what would happen if no one was orphaned? I wonder what would happen if everyone was kinder? I wonder what would happen if character X acted on their feelings for character Y?
