How can GoConqr help student engagement?

"So just why is thinking not much fun? For a start, it requires effort. Human beings are naturally resistant to squandering resources whenever effort is involved. However, do not think of this trait as laziness. Instead, it relates to a careful allocation of personal energies. Effort is a factor that has to be consistent with one's personal motivation and committed goals."
~ from Visible Learning and the Science of How We Learn by John Hattie and Gregory Yates, p.5

We see students putting effort into everything but school. I am amazed how they find ways around the school's network controls when they want to access blocked sites. If we want students to put the same energy into school we need to align their goals with our goals. GoConqr provides one way to do that by providing students a social media forum to be creative as well as learn.
