Question Answer
PROCESSED FOOD Processed food can be pretty tasty but it's also super bad for you. Processed meat, fried food, refined cereals, candy, pastries, and high-fat dairy products are all linked to more anxiety and depression.
BLUE LIGHT BEFORE GO TO SLEEP Did you know that blue light from electronic devices can mess with your sleep cycle? It signals your brain to wake up when it should be winding down. A study found that even 2 hours of blue light exposure at night can slow or stop the release of the sleep hormone: melatonin.
HYPER-CONNECTIVITY The more time we spend on our phones, the more we risk a complete disconnect from our real lives. It’s been shown that depressed teens are more affected by social media, and addiction to smartphones is increasing the risk of loneliness and depression.
SEDENTARISM Mental health problems are much more common among people who lead sedentary lifestyles. Lack of exercise is also linked to higher rates of anxiety and depression.
RUMINATING THOUGHTS The negative thoughts and emotions that we focus on can have a huge impact on our mental and physical health. The more you obsess and think about negative events, the more likely you are to be depressed and anxious. Negative brooding is the main cause of stress in your life.
LONELINESS Lack of social interactions also damages mental health. The emotional support provided by social connections helps to reduce the damaging effects of stress and can foster “a sense of meaning and purpose in life".
