Factors that shape Beliefs and Values Family, gender, religion and spirituality, environment, relationship to land, language, and media.
Themes of Ideologies Nation (supports or shows devotion to a country or group), class (hierarchy of society), religion (related to human nature, way the world is and should be), and relationship to land (progress vs. conservation).
Types of Ideologies Include liberalism, conservatism, capitalism, socialism, communism, fascism, and anarchism.
Liberalism An ideology that stresses individual rights and freedoms. Contributors John Locke and John Stuart Mill.
Conservatism The ideology that embraces gradual changes in the society as opposed to violent acts of revolution. Contributor Edmund Burke.

Communism When the leader of the state has the purpose of pushing society for a revolution. Contributor Vladimir Lenin.
Fascism Extreme nationalism under authoritarian leadership. Contributors Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
Anarchism The right of individuals to organize their lives free from government domination. Contributor Peter Kropotkin.
