Question Answer
What is sound energy? Energy that travels as vibrating waves and can be heard by our ears as sound.
What does kinetic energy transferred into? It’s transferred from air particle to air particle as sound wave travels.
What are some examples of objects that vibrate? *the food of skin making up your vocal cords vibrate when air from the lungs pushes through them. *the vibrating ops of a trumpet player make the air inside the trumpet vibrate.
What is an echo? An echo is a sound that is repeated because the sound waves are reflected.
What is pitch? How low or high s sound is the after particles producing the sound vibrate, the higher the pitch.
What is frequency? The number of waves that travel past a given point per second.
What is frequency measured with? Frequency is measured I’m a united called hertz (Hz).
What is wavelength? The length of one complete wave, measured in metres.
What is loudness measured with? Loudness is measured in a unit called the decibel (dB).
Scale of loudness. Enter text here...
What is wave motion? It stays in the same stop and the energy is transferred from one to another until it has passes around the stadium.
What is acoustics? the branch of physics concerned with the properties of sound.
What is the speed of sound in water? Speed of water is 1498 metres per second.
Why can’t sound travel in space? Its not possible for sound to travel in space because in space there is no material or particles to vibrate and transfer energy.
