Barometer	An instrument for measuring air pressure.
Climate	The average weather in a place
Depression	A weather system made up of two fronts, a warm front chased by a cold one; it brings wet, windy weather.
Front	The leading edge of an air mass; a warm front means a warm air mass arriving.
Isobar	Line on a map joining places of equal pressure.
Isotherm	Line on a map joining places with the same temperature.
meteorology	the study of weather and climate. Meteorologist - a person who studies weather and climate.
North Atlantic Drift	A warm current in the Atlantic ocean; it keeps the weather on the west coast of Britain mild in winter.
Precipitation	Water falling from the sky (rain, sleet, hail, snow)
Prevailing Wind	The wind that blows most often in the UK it is a south west wind (it blows from the SW)
Rain Shadow	Area sheltered from the rain by a hill or mountain.
Water Cycle	The non stop cycle in which water evaporates from the sea, falls as rain and returns to the sea in rivers.
Weather	The state of the atmosphere e.g. how warm or wet or windy.
