Question Answer
what are atoms ? atoms are the building blocks of everything
what do electrons do? they move around the nucleus, and a re negatively charged and move in shells(energy levels) around the nucleus.
what does 'number of protons equals number of electrons' mean? it means atoms have no charge so are neutral. the charge on the electrons is the same as the charge on the protons-but opposite. this means the number of protons always equal the number of electrons in an atom.
basic atom facts atoms are tiny. but the nucleus is really tiny. if you imagine a whole atom as the size of a football stadium, its nucleus would only be the size of a marble.
