Base Unit The fundamental unit to which prefixes can be added for each type of metric measurement.
Molecule - A collection of atoms that are connected to one another.
Scientific Notation - Used to express a large or small number -Large numbers should have positive exponents -Small numbers should have negative exponents - We move the decimal point to the left or right to get a number between 1 and 10.
Two Rules of Scientific Notation - The "number part" must be equal or greater than 1, and it must be less than 10. - The "exponential part" is the number 10 raised to the number of positions we moved the decimal point.
Conversion Factors - Fractions that express the same value in different units on the top and bottom.
Dimensional Analysis A method that uses conversion factors to convert from one unit to next.
Celsius Temp. Scale - Used to express temperature in the metric system
Melting Point of Water - 0 degrees Celsius equivalent to -32 degrees Fahrenheit
Boiling Point of Water - 100 degrees Celsius Equivalent to - 212 degrees Fahrenheit
Quality of Data Precision & Accuracy
