Question Answer
Describe the events and location of spermatogenesis The sperm is originally produced in the gonad/testis and in the seminiferous tubules. Started out as spermatogonia (2n), they then undergo mitosis to multiply, for one spermatogonia, they then undergo meiosis to become spermatocytes (primary to secondary) then they mature to become spermatids.
Describe the hormonal control of spermatogenesis The main releasing agents that comes out of there is testosterone (androgen). It is stimulated at the hypothalamus as Gonadotrophin Releasing Hormone and stimulates release Luteinizing hormone and Follicular Stimulating Hormone (LH and FSH), it then had negative feedback to itself
What are the actions of LH and FSH and how are they regulated? Inhibin produced by the sertoli cells send info to the anterior pituitary. The testosterone send negative feedback loop into the anterior pituitary and the hypothalamus.
What is the composition of semen? 10% Spermatozoa 60% seminal vesicle fluids 20% prostrate glands secretion 10% Bulbourethral Gland Secretions
What are the actions of testosterone and other androgens in male? Increased blood synthesis Increased stimulation of spermatogenesis Growth Sexual Differentiation during birth Liver enzyme?
