what is respiration? Respiration refers to a series of chemical changes that take place in cells to release energy.
What is the respiratory system? The system of organs and tissues that take air into the body.
How does the respiratory system work? it takes air into your body and ultimately makes oxygen available to the cells.
When you breathe in what happens to the air? some air may come in through your mouth but most of it through your nose its warmed, moistened then cleaned.
Breathing allows you to take in the oxygen your cells need but when you exhale, you also breathe out a lot of water.When at rest, humans exhale up to 17.5 milliliters (0.59 fluid ounces) of water per hour, according to a 2012 article but you lose about four times that amount when you exercise, the study said.
what do the nostrils do? They take in the air then filter large dust particles.
what does the mucus do? mucus is produced by gland sin the skin lining the inside of your hose and millions of cellio in it.

What does the pharynx do? It connects the mouth and nose to the oesophagus.
how much mucus do you swallow each day? You're swallowing on average twice a minute even when you're sleeping at night says Michael Ellis, an ear, nose and throat doctor at Tulane University.
what is the trachea? It is a tube as thick as a garden hose.
What are the alveoli? A cluster of sacs at the end of the bronchioles where gas exchange takes place.
what do the alveoli provide? An alveoli provides oxygen.
What happens to the oxygen once it is in the blood? It enters the red blood cells, and the flow of blood carries the oxygen to cells where its needed.
What is Carbon dioxide and what does the body do with it? Carbon dioxide is a waste product that would harm your body if you did not get rid of it. Carbon dioxide moves from your cell into your blood.
What is breathing and can you stop yourself from breathing? Breathing is involuntary- although you can force yourself to stop breathing for a while.
What is the diaphragm? Sheet of muscle that separates the chest from the abdomen.
What does respiratory require? 1-Glucose 2-oxygen.
