Question Answer
Neuroscience and Education
What is neuroscience? The process in which the brain learns and can recall information .
How many neurons are in the brain? The brain has around 100 billion neurons
What is cognitive neuroscience method? Helps identify special needs, assess if there are any special needs.
Brain Development in the beginning stages. The brain devlopment is complete throughout the first weeks of pregnancy. The cells go to different regions and mature the bain til birth.
What is the process of synaptogenesis? It is brain development following birth that consist of the growth of axons , synapses and dendrites.
The Frontal Lobe? Plans and reasons and controls speech and how one reacts to situations emotionally.
The Temporal Lobe? It focuses on memory, audition, language and object recognition
The Parietal Lobe? Controls our sense of touch and is used for spatial processing and preseption.
The Occupational Lobe? It controls our vision
Neuroimaging Based on the idea that cognitive tasks makes demands on the brain which need to be met by changes in the neutral activity.
What is PET? It is a Positron Emmission Tomography It relies on the injection of radioactive tracers.
What is FMRI? Functional Magnetic Resonance Image. It shows the localisation of the brain activity.
Is neuroscience irrelevant? No it isn't. It can actually share important information that can help in education.
What happens when English is learned late? When English is learned late due to auditory deprivation they do not develop at the same rate.
Plasticity in children or adults and why? Plasticity is bigger in children. It is the impact of specialized way the brain works.
Does REM have any association to a cognitive function? Neuroimaging studies show that REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep is not associated with self report of dreaming. But it is important for learning and memory.
