| what is metafiction? | fiction about fiction |

| The fox is a metaphor for what? | it is a thought fox, meaning it is movements and in progress through the forest are the process of an idea for a poem being formed |
| Is the fox real? | no. first the poet uses the word imagine as the looks out the window, meaning this is probably all happening in his head. also he says it is very dark outside so he probably wouldn't be able to see the fox |
| What is the importance and similarities of the black sky, the white snow, and the page the writer is writing on? | all are blank canvases that can be added to. the sky and the snow are metaphors for the page before the writer comes up with an idea. when the fox walks in the snow, it shows the writer has found an idea. |
| how is the clock and the writer similar? | both have hands that move and an even beating, a heart for the writer, and ticking for the clock |

(2 possibilities) | its a metaphor for the thought fox running into the writers head, giving him an idea for his poem. also could mean that the eyes were all that could be seen in the dark, but now we can see they are in the fox' head, the idea coming together. |

| how do prints apply to the fox and the writer? | the prints stand forthe paw prints on the snow made by the fox and the writing on the page that the writer makes |

| what is the difference between the rook and the thought fox? | the fox is figurative and the rook is literal |
| Does the writer have a particular hope about the rook? | no. she isn't expecting a miracle, a sign, or great inspiration when she looks at it |
| How is the writer felling while she writes this? | She is not very happy, wther she is depressed, tired, or lonely we cant be sure. She isnt looking to much into the bird or nature for a sign, but she still is seeking answers from heaven. |
| Does her mood change at all from the beginning to the end of the poem? | at the start the writer soesnt expect much, but by the end she is more content after finding inspiration in the rook. she comes to the realization that inspiration comes from small things |
| how is her writing a cycle? | she has found inspiration, she has written and now she waits again for more inspiration to write again and so on |
