Question Answer
Define the word 'theodicy' Theodicy means 'righteous God'
What makes a theodicy 'true'? 1. Doesn't deny the existence of God 2. Doesn't support giving up faith when faced with the problem of evil and suffering 3. Allows God to possess all his primary attributes
What are the four different types of theodicies? 1. Process theodicy 2. Reformulation 3. Ireneaus 4. Augustine
What is Process theodicy? It claims that God did not create the universe, he started the evolutionary process but could not control it (bound by natural laws)
What is the Reformulation of Ireneaus' theodicy? Hick reformed the Irenean theodicy by saying God suffers with us, he needed to grant us freewill (remained at an epistemic distance)
