Question Answer
Positive Reinforcement The process of encouraging or establishing a pattern of behaviour by offering reward when the behaviour is exhibited.
Negative Reinforcement A response or behaviour is strengthened by stopping, removing or avoiding a negative outcome or aversive stimulus.
Punishment Opposite to reinforcement because it is designed to weaken or eliminate a response rather than increase. It is an aversive event that decreases the behaviour that it follows.
