ADVANTAGES: -Extra wealth spread through community(multiplier effect) -Demand for local produce -farming, fishing, crafts -New jobs are created in the tourist industry -Improved communtications
DISADVANTAGES: -Farmers lost land to resort devolopments -Some villages dependent on tourism(unpredictable) -Each tourist uses 30x more water than a local (this causes water shortages) -Beaches contaminated by untreated sewage -Trees cut down, turtles under threat -habitat endangered
