Midpoint and Endpoint Question Decisions

• Use one of the following strategies to find the midpoint. 

• The question is probably giving you the midpoint and one of the endpoints, and asking you to find the OTHER endpoint. use one of the following strategies to find the missing endpoint. 

• Midpoint Formula: ((x + x)/ 2,   (y + y)/2)

• Stack 'em Add 'em Half 'em

• Graph both points on paper. Fold the paper so the two endpoints touch and you find the middle along the crease of the paper. Identify the coordinates of this point. 

• Endpoint Formula: (  2(midpoint x) - (endpoint x) , 2(midpoint y) - (endpoint y)  )

• Double the midpoint Subtract the endpoint (Do this for x and then y)

• Graph the endpoint you were given, and the midpoint you were given. identify the vertical and horizontal distance from endpoint #1 to the midpoint, and recreate those distances from the midpoint to the location of the desired endpoint #2.
