   • O'Brien's luxurious Apartment

     • Winston confesses that he and Julia are enemies of the Party and adulterers
     • O'Brien tells Winston that the Brotherhood is real and Emmanuel Goldstein is alive
     • O'Brien promises Winston and Julia that they will be members of the Brotherhood if they read the book that he sent
     • Winston realizes that O'Brien leads a double life, working for the Party's interest even as he seeks to undermine them

2. Chapter 9

   • Winston had to rectify all of the now obsolete references to Oceania's war with Eurasia
     • The room above Mr. Charrington's shop
       • People present:
         • Winston
         • Julia
       • Winston started reading the book
         • The book said that all societies are divided into High (Inner Party), Middle (Outer Party), and Low classes (proles), whose aims are irreconcilable
       • Julia arrived and fell assleep meanwhile Winston was reading the book
       • Winston after realising that Julia was sleeping he fell assleep too
