The average student in
the United States
watches television for 28
hours a week
Most of these programs contain scenes of
violence and sex
Thousands of studies indicate that there is
a connection between these violence
programs and their aggressive behaviors in
real life.
However, these
programs not only
cause aggressive
behaviors, they also
cause anorexia,
obesity, and drug,
tobacco, and alcohol
abuse.
Television and film images perpetuate ideals and norms of body
image and behavior, and some bodies of researchers, such as the
American Psychiatric Association, believe that adolescents and
children often take cues from television.
Fourteen-year-old John was asked
this. Why don't young people read
books 28 hours a week?
He said, "Well, because I don't like to read books.
I like watching movies and TV shows are easier
to understand."
And this is true, books are
harder work than TV shows
and that's why it's not for
all people.
However, if you make the
effort to read a book you can
learn more and also improve
your memory.
There are many different books you may
like. I find an interesting topic for you and
read them. Without you realizing it, you will
be learning indirectly.
First we must know. What is reading? To read is to place
ourselves in front of a written text and decode the message
that the author wants to convey to us.
